Die Verbreitung von Linux sowohl im SAP- als auch im Non-SAP-Umfeld legt weiter stark zu. Unl\u00e4ngst ver\u00f6ffentlichte Zahlen von IDC bescheinigen Server-Rekordabs\u00e4tze.<\/p>\n

Tatsache ist, dass bei einem sehr gro\u00dfen Teil aller abgesetzten Systeme Linux vorinstalliert ist. Auch im SAP-Umfeld hat sich Linux l\u00e4ngst etabliert. Der Unix-Linux-Schwenk bei den NetWeaver-basierten Systemen mit Any-DBs trug dazu bei, ebenso die Hanaisierung oder der Einsatz von Hana-basierten SAP-Anwendungsl\u00f6sungen, bei denen Linux bekanntlich gesetzt ist.<\/p>

Etliche SAP-Anwenderunternehmen, die ERP-Klassik durch S\/4 ersetzen, haben die Hana-Migration inklusive der Migration von Unix oder Windows auf Linux, gepaart mit einem Any-DB-Wechsel, bereits hinter sich.<\/p>\n

Ein anderer Teil der SAP-Kunden ist in den Planungen oder mitten im SAP-Transformationsprozess. Obzwar Linux auch gewisse Neuerungen bedeutet, ist doch Linux im SAP-Umfeld so neu nicht.<\/p>\n

Im kommenden Jahr steht n\u00e4mlich das 20-j\u00e4hrige Bestehen des SAP-Linux-Labs an \u2013 Ausgangs- oder Kristallisationspunkt f\u00fcr zahlreiche Entwicklungen und Innovationen f\u00fcr den Linux- und auch den Open-Source-Einsatz im Mission-Critical-SAP-Umfeld.<\/p>\n

Neben Linux sind dies beispielsweise OpenStack, Containertechniken mit Kubernetes, Enterprise Storage mit Ceph oder Application Delivery auf Grundlage von Cloud Foundry.<\/p>\n

Hebel f\u00fcr Digitalisierung<\/h3>\n

Linux und Open Source sind eng mit der digitalen Transformation (oder der Digitalisierung) verwoben. Was geradewegs zum Thema Software Defined Infrastructure (SDI) f\u00fchrt.<\/p>\n

Schlie\u00dflich ist es mit einer SDI als flexibler und offener Infrastrukturumgebung auf Softwarebasis m\u00f6glich, ganz nach Belieben oder automatisiert interne IT-Landschaften und externe Cloud Services zu verzahnen. Und zwar unabh\u00e4ngig von einer darunter liegenden Infrastruktur mit Server, Storage, Netzwerk.<\/p>\n

Konkret: In der Hybrid-Cloud-\u00c4ra lassen sich mit einer Software Defined Infrastructure Daten von au\u00dfen beziehen respektive im Rahmen von digitalisierten Prozessen von innen nach au\u00dfen Daten bereitstellen, etwa im Rahmen von Kunden-Lieferanten-Beziehungen.<\/p>\n

Dabei ist der SDI-Blick laut einer Anwenderumfrage \u00fcberwiegend auf Open Source oder offene Standards gerichtet. Aus Kostengr\u00fcnden, um ein Vendor-Lock-in zu vermeiden, wegen des hohen Innovationspotenzials von Open Source oder auch wegen einer vereinfachten Systemintegration unterschiedlicher Open-Source-L\u00f6sungen.<\/p>\n

SDI-L\u00f6sungen verf\u00fcgbar<\/h3>\n

SAP und Suse forcieren seit L\u00e4ngerem im Miteinander den Open-Source-Einsatz sowie die SDI-Nutzung. Dabei spielt Suse Linux Enterprise Server (Suse) for SAP Applications als technologiekompatible Betriebssystemplattform f\u00fcr verschiedenartige Betriebskonzepte (on-premise oder off-premise\/Cloud) eine wichtige Rolle.<\/p>\n

Ebenso wie weitere SDI-Open-Source-L\u00f6sungen von Suse f\u00fcr den SAP-Einsatz, um Digitalisierungsherausforderungen mit einer agilen und modernen Infrastruktur bedarfsgerecht zu unterf\u00fcttern:<\/p>\n

Suse OpenStack Cloud (Private Cloud\/IaaS), Suse Cloud Application Platform (PaaS\/Cloud Foundry), Suse CaaS Platform (Container Management\/Kubernetes), Suse Enterprise Storage (Ceph) oder Suse Manager (Enterprise System Management). Und zwar geb\u00fcndelt in der \u201eSuse Software Defined Infrastructure\u201c.<\/p>\n

Die Data-Center Transition mit Software-Defined-Infrastructure-L\u00f6sungskomponenten im SAP-Umfeld ist vorgezeichnet. SDI-Open-\u00adSource-L\u00f6sungskomponenten sind verf\u00fcg- oder einsetzbar. Einen Bogen um das Thema SDI zu machen oder es auf die lange Bank zu schieben macht wenig Sinn.<\/p>\n
