Untapped digital opportunities<\/strong><\/h4>\n

German companies could exploit the potential of digital innovations much more.<\/p>\n

Digitization represents one of the greatest opportunities for the German economy. This is the conclusion of the study \"Two Faces of Digitalization\" by TCS and Bitkom Research.<\/p>

Almost all of the decision-makers surveyed recognize how important their digital technology development is for the future success of their entrepreneurial activities. According to the study, the automotive, chemical and insurance sectors are the most advanced in digitization.<\/p>\n

While German companies recognize the strategic importance of digital innovation, they are not fully capitalizing on the opportunities it presents.<\/p>\n

This is particularly true for SMEs, the backbone of the German economy. Half of the study participants are not yet moving decisively enough in the direction of digital transformation.<\/p>\n

The study results come at an opportune moment in view of the German government's \"Digital Strategy 2025\". This aims to further strengthen Germany's leading position in the field of modern, integrated manufacturing technology.<\/p>\n

As part of the Industry 4.0 initiative, the Digital Strategy 2025 forms the core of the development plan for German industry. It relies heavily on the ability to deploy digital technologies - from the industrial Internet of Things (IoT) to artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, supported by new developments in cloud-based services and mobile applications.
\n<\/p>\n

Networking fair of the North German economy<\/strong><\/h4>\n

For the second time this year, Germany's largest regional business trade fair offers a specialist audience the opportunity to network intensively, make new contacts, strengthen existing ones and gain new business partners.<\/p>\n

\"B2BThe specialist forums focus on the exchange of information, knowledge transfer and networking between companies. Exhibitors will speak about the core topics of their industry and their company, such as marketing, finance, IT, web design, logistics, broadband, personnel and commercial real estate.<\/p>\n

The Logistics Forum is organized by SVG Hamburg and the Commercial Real Estate Forum by Nordgate. Here, industry experts organize an industry get-together within the trade fair.<\/p>\n

There is a particular focus on the BusinessDialogs in these specialist forums, in which experts from politics and business intensively discuss current industry-related topics and jointly promote solutions.
\n<\/p>\n

Business dialogs<\/h4>\n

On the main stage, top speakers (from the GSA) will give lots of valuable ideas and impulses every 30 minutes on topics such as management, sales, branding, success, communication, social media, presentation techniques and recruiting specialists.<\/p>\n

For everyday working life and the associated challenges and opportunities, this is the ideal opportunity to gain ideas, techniques and motivational aids for your own actions in the company or for dealing with employees.
\n<\/p>\n

T-Systems: Expansion of the German \"Hightech-Fort-Knox\"<\/strong><\/h4>\n

T-Systems continues to expand its cloud location in Germany. In mid-September, those responsible laid the foundation stone for the expansion of the data center in Biere near Magdeburg.<\/p>\n

Since the twin data center in Biere and nearby Magdeburg went into operation in 2014, global demand for cloud services has continued to grow strongly.<\/p>\n

Around 600 major customers currently use secure cloud services from T-Systems, including international corporations such as Shell and Daimler.<\/p>\n

The twin site in Magdeburg\/Biere plays an important role as a data hub in Deutsche Telekom's global data center infrastructure. With the construction of three additional data center modules, the cloud capacities at the Biere site will be expanded by 150 percent.<\/p>\n

Commissioning is planned for the second quarter of 2018. Strict data protection standards continue to apply to the second construction phase of the \"Hightech-Fort-Knox\": the buildings are protected by state-of-the-art security systems and access is strictly controlled.<\/p>\n

Access to the servers is only possible via elevated bridges. Powerful emergency generators secure the power supply. In addition, Telekom protects its networks and data centers against hacker attacks and cyberattacks at the highest technical level.
\n<\/p>\n

Low energy requirement<\/h4>\n

The new building will also require almost 30 percent less energy than comparable facilities and will use an energy mix with a high proportion of renewable energies.<\/p>\n

The low-energy data center achieves an exemplary PUE value (ratio of the total energy consumed to the energy consumption of the computers) of 1.3. Older data centers achieve 1.8 and more.<\/p>\n

Robotics - the cloud plays a key role<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Over two thirds of German companies are already using robot technology or are planning to do so in the future. The cloud plays a key role in this.<\/p>\n

How are companies in the EMEA region mastering the transition to the new phase of industrialization and which technologies should they invest in? Oracle surveyed a total of 1200 companies from Europe, the Middle East and Africa.<\/p>\n

The study shows that the majority of German companies are in the process of implementing innovation strategies or have corresponding plans for the future.<\/p>\n

69 percent in Germany (62 percent in EMEA) already use or plan to use robot technology.<\/p>\n

53 percent in Germany (60 percent in EMEA) already use or plan to use artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

Most companies consider a cloud infrastructure to be necessary in order to get started with the new technologies.
\n<\/p>\n

Cloud for artificial intelligence<\/h4>\n

For example, 66% of respondents from Germany (60% in EMEA) are convinced that an enterprise cloud platform offers the opportunity to exploit the potential of innovations such as robotics and artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

The majority of survey participants are on track with the implementation of a company-wide, integrated cloud model. To date, only 5% (8% in EMEA) have a cloud solution in place that combines both existing applications and new platforms. At the same time, however, 43% (36% in EMEA) want to implement such an infrastructure this year.<\/p>\n

A further 39 percent (40 percent in EMEA) plan to do so in 2017, while only four percent (five percent in EMEA) have no ambitions in this direction.
\n<\/p>\n

Digitization in the construction industry<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Study: Without consistent digitalization, construction companies are putting their competitiveness at risk.<\/em>\"Point<\/p>\n

Digitalization is impacting the entire value chain and changing entire business models.<\/p>\n

This also applies to the construction industry: 93% of construction companies assume that digitalization will influence all of their processes. However, a new Roland Berger study shows that this realization has so far only been followed by corresponding action in very few cases.<\/p>\n

Roland Berger's experts surveyed 40 construction companies and construction suppliers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland to find out how they assess the potential of digitalization and how far along they are in implementing it.<\/p>\n

According to the survey, less than six percent of construction companies use digital planning tools throughout. Among the building materials companies surveyed, as many as 100 percent believe that they have not exhausted their digitalization potential.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
