17 qubit test chip

Intel and QuTech are seeing progress in the development of quantum computing systems, with semiconductor manufacturing and materials science playing an important role.
The 17-qubit test chip now presented is about the size of a 50-cent coin. A special design enables the production of a higher number of units while simultaneously increasing performance.
A new architecture, provides higher reliability, better thermal performance and less radio frequency interference between qubits. A scalable interconnect scheme, compared to wire-bonded chips, enables 10 to 100 times higher input/output signal density. (Book tips Quantum Computing)
