Two Hana gaps filled
On the one hand, this addresses the issue of restoring Hana users and their role and authorization assignments. On the other hand, the recovery of Smart Data Access (SDA) remote sources in connection with the connection of external databases to the in-memory database Hana.
In the case of the former, the add-on component called BlueCopy Hana User Safe provides the option of automatically restoring Hana users as well as roles and permissions as part of a system copy.
It is true that in the standard SAP procedure, users, including their authorizations and passwords, as well as roles are inherited from a system copy source (usually from the production system). However, users and roles that are only created in the target system of the system copy no longer exist after the copy. As a result, they have to be recreated manually, which is a time-consuming process.
Within BC Hana User Safe, BlueCopy provides an option to backup the Hana users and their assigned roles stored in the target system (QA system or sandbox) and recreate them as part of a system copy. This ensures that user passwords are either restored from BlueCopy's built-in password safe or reset to a random initial password. Furthermore, initial passwords can be automatically emailed to users. In addition, all users as well as selected users can be backed up. This add-on is available immediately and can be integrated into BlueCopy version 10.2.
A similar problem as with users and roles also arises with information stored in a Hana database with regard to the connection of external databases. Entries that have been entered and deviate from production are lost or overwritten.
With the second component of the BlueCopy add-on package, called BlueCopy Hana SDA, the configuration of the SDA remote sources and the stored credentials can be restored in an automated manner with pinpoint accuracy. The availability of the Hana SDA add-on is planned for the end of Q4 this year.
According to Empirius, the BC Hana Package offers numerous user benefits: for example, that no user is forgotten, so to speak, or that roles or authorizations are not overlooked, as well as that a required SDA remote source is not taken into account, also that revision security and traceability are increased. It is also pointed out that the use of add-ons results in time savings due to the elimination of manual work, and that they are easy to use and implement.
