Reliability instead of risks
DSAG Statement
The planned strengthening of the ERP business, or rather the ERP core, is a positive signal. SAP's announcements raise questions for us as a user association: Does the strategy of the business network still fit if essential IT processes of customer management are no longer developed at the same speed as ERP? What does it mean for the lead-to-cash process, which was counted among the core processes, if essential components from the CX portfolio lose priority as announced? We expect SAP to provide its roadmaps with clear milestones as development direction. Reliability is needed here instead of further risks. User companies want to associate the keywords reliability, security and future viability with SAP.
But if key components of the product portfolio are scaled back, contrary to previous public communications, this calls into question SAP as a fundamentally trustworthy provider. The SAP architectures in most companies are complex. However, the software manufacturer is currently not taking sufficient account of this. Comprehensive standards, clarity and investment security are indispensable - also and especially for cloud solutions. But the recent announcements about Fioneer or patient management (IS-H) are causing irritation among user companies.
Customers should actually be able to rely on a reliable SAP portfolio. The prevailing dynamics of the portfolio challenge user companies and partners. Migration projects cannot be completed overnight. Depending on their complexity, they can take years. In addition, it is unclear how SAP's many individual initiatives are to culminate in a long-term vision to help companies succeed in the
21st century to steer.
