According to the SAP community, the SAP programming language Abap on the SAP Business Technology Platform, BTP, will become the defining ERP strategy.
Why should you take part now? In a contribution by PAC analyst Joachim Hackmann for the DSAG online magazine and Joachim Hackmann will be present in person at the Steampunk and BTP Summit in Heidelberg for questions and answers. Take advantage of this unique opportunity!
Are there BTP supplements and alternatives? There will also be answers to these questions at the SAP Community Summit: SAP partner itmX and representatives from Microsoft will talk about the MS Azure platform; the Scheer Group will present the BTP concept plus its own ERP platform.
The conference language is German.
When: 28 and 29 February 2024

Why steampunk / BTP?

The future of S/4 Hana is still uncertain. SAP guarantees software maintenance until 2040, but until then and beyond? There are already numerous business and organizational challenges that cannot be solved with the standard processes of the S/4 private and public cloud.
Many existing SAP customers are about to transfer their Abap modifications to a future S/4 Hana system. What happens to the innovations from the Z namespace? Neither the SAP Private Cloud nor the Public Cloud provide satisfactory answers to this question. There are still media discontinuities in many SAP business processes and there is a lack of verified end-to-end scenarios. Third-party systems will continue to deliver external data to S/4 in the future. S/4 Hana will become an integrated part of a composable ERP over the next few years. Only with Steampunk and the Business Technology Platform can the successful Abap modifications, the development of new E2E processes and the orchestration of a Composable ERP be rescued.
The Steampunk and BTP Summit 2024 provides the answers regarding an ERP architecture including and beyond S/4 Hana, because after 2040 the ERP world and SAP community will not cease to exist.

In a Composable ERP world, different laws will apply. The tools for this new world will be steampunk and BTP. The system design of a future ERP may be based on SAP components, but its essence will be composite IT solutions. Composability will define upcoming ERP architectures. Platforms will become even more important because they represent homogeneity. Composable ERP also carries a bit of cybernetics. It is about interdependencies of components. Composable ERP therefore does not mean that everyone does what they want, but that there will be a common understanding of context in the SAP community. This composability will be a principle of ERP system design and owned by the community. The discourse about an ERP after S/4 will not be conducted at SAP, but by existing customers in the community with tools such as Steampunk and BTP.
