Multi-cloud, 5G and sustainability
One of the most obvious developments concerns hybrid multi-cloud architectures. Scalability, flexibility and cost efficiency are just three of the many reasons why more and more companies have turned to cloud-based solutions in recent years, including ERP or CRM systems, e-commerce solutions or online data storage.
Current customer projects and expert discussions show that this dynamic will intensify even further in 2021 and that the trend in companies will increasingly move toward hybrid multi-cloud architectures. In this approach, different cloud solutions are pulled together into one large application and data cloud.
Sustainability will also become more of a focus. Sustainability issues have been at the top of companies' agendas not just since the "Fridays for Future" movement. In 2021, many IT managers and CIOs will therefore be pushing these issues even more decisively.
It is not only considerations of how IT itself can become more sustainable in the sense of green IT that play a role here, so that it becomes more energy and resource efficient, longer lasting or more recyclable, for example. The question of what role the use of new software and IT solutions can play in the topic of sustainability will also occupy more and more executives this year.
One consequence of Corona and the triumph of home office working is the realization that workplaces must become smarter. Access to IT must be possible from anywhere. Employees need smart tools in their daily work routines.
