The acquisition strengthens Alfresco's enterprise solutions portfolio: It adds configurable, role-based transactional content management and records management capabilities to the Alfresco platform.
"The acquisition of WeWebU is a significant milestone in our journey to provide content-centric applications to enterprises worldwide for their core business processes"
Doug Dennerline, CEO of Alfresco, said.
"Both companies already have common customers and partners. Our united goal is to provide end-to-end content solutions that can be used as beneficially within the corporate walls as they are in the cloud and on diverse mobile devices."
The combination of Alfresco and WeWebU makes it possible to handle content-oriented business processes smoothly. This includes the management of contracts and documents for complex business transactions as well as electronic file management, for example for personnel files, or process support in the financial industry. WeWebU complements the Alfresco platform with dynamic, role-based views and virtual folders.
Forrester analysts noted this in their report, "Address the Complex Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Landscape."
"ECM system vendors need to abandon their market view focused on their own technology. Instead, they must focus on developing ready-made solutions for real-world business problems.
Such solutions focus on the automation of business processes and the corresponding content management, so that both the capture and the processing of content are significantly shortened."
WeWebU's applications help organizations realize the full potential of their content. In addition, WeWebU integrates with existing desktop and office solutions and enables users to access the same work environment on the go via iPad and iPhone.
Seamless processes and workflows are thus a given.
"Numerous companies have said goodbye to the medium of paper and have been able to optimize their business processes"
says Stefan Waldhauser, CEO of WeWebU.
"We look forward to combining our expertise with Alfresco and working together to shape the future of content management and collaboration for mission-critical content."
Upon completion of the acquisition, WeWebU and its entire team will be managed within Alfresco as a new business unit under the title Alfresco Business Solutions. Alfresco will thus strengthen its presence in the German-speaking region. The new business unit will be led by Stefan Waldhauser, founder and CEO of WeWebU.
