Gerd Oswald is back
Gerhard Oswald is to be elected to the Supervisory Board as successor to Prof. Anja Feldmann with effect from January 1, 2019, i.e. after expiry of the statutory two-year cooling-off period for former Executive Board members.
"I am particularly pleased that Gerhard Oswald has agreed to stand for election to the Supervisory Board after his two-year cooling-off period expires.
As a former member of the Executive Board and a long-time companion, he knows SAP like no one else. His knowledge of SAP, our customers, and our markets will be a great asset to the Supervisory Board."
said the Chairman of the Supervisory Board and SAP founder, Prof. Hasso Plattner.
Oswald worked at SAP for 35 years and knows the Walldorf-based software group like few others. In 1981, the German joined SAP from Siemens. At Siemens, he worked as an application consultant for SAP R/2 business processes.
A graduate in business administration, he took over the SAP Executive Board seat in 1996 and has been the company's Chief Operating Officer (COO) since 2011. Oswald lives on the outskirts of Walldorf.
He supports local clubs, runs a golden retriever kennel with his wife, and farms a vineyard with excellent results.
Like Bernd Leukert, Oswald is an avid soccer player and can often be found at matches of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, the soccer club of SAP co-founder Dietmar Hopp.
Oswald also enjoys a second "ball sport": he is considered a very good golfer. His extensive SAP knowledge and familiarity with the SAP community made him a superstar at every DSAG annual congress.
A German-speaking SAP community without Oswald was and is hardly imaginable.
