License Know How
Postponement of LKH 2019 Bonn
Due to recent findings, the Licensing Know-How (LKH) event will be rescheduled for a new date in the second or third quarter of 2019.
Why?
Some licensing experts in the SAP community suspect that SAP will present a new licensing model in spring 2019. This model could be a response to an antitrust complaint currently before the German Federal Cartel Office in Bonn. It is likely that this new SAP licensing model will also newly regulate the topic of "indirect use" and the use of HCP apps (Hana Cloud Platform) subject to licensing.
The organizer and the speakers of LKH 2019 Bonn do not want to discuss legal and technical issues that may become obsolete and void a few weeks later due to an adapted SAP license model.
Learning from the past:
At the beginning of 2018, Voice, the German IT Users Association, filed an antitrust complaint that was adapted a few weeks later because SAP presented an alternative licensing model in April 2018 - presumably in response the first Voice complaint. Shortly before the summer, Voice sent a second complaint to Bonn, to which SAP has not yet responded. Now, some licensing experts in the SAP community expect a response from SAP in the form of another licensing model in spring 2019.
The organizer and the presenters would like to thank all members of the SAP community and the sponsors for their interest in LKH 2019 Bonn. At the beginning of the new year we will inform you about the new date and place.
