Only five percent describe themselves as platform experts. A further 15 percent can at least explain well what is meant by the platform economy.
However, around one in two (49%) only know roughly what the term means. At the same time, in nine out of ten companies (87%), the management or executive board is primarily responsible for digital platforms, with only five percent of companies transferring responsibility to a middle management level such as a head of digital transformation or to the employee level.
According to Bitkom, anyone with responsibility for a company today must not just know about the platform economy from hearsay.
