General Data Protection Regulation, so what?
More than half of the companies are not aware of the data protection
Basic Regulation prepared. There is a threat of heavy penalties.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into force in May 2018 and standardize data protection law in the EU with regard to data security, storage and governance.
To do this, companies must disclose in more detail how and where sensitive, personal data is shared and stored. This includes how organizations monitor and control access to this information.
According to a recent study by data management specialist Veritas, 54 percent of organizations from Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the United States and Asia Pacific have not yet addressed the issue of providing GDPR compliance.
The responses show that the main focus is on operational measures, compliance and planning. In particular, it is a question of process ownership and the ability to implement guidelines for data cleansing and to comply with deletion obligations.
