No fear of the goalkeeper at the penalty kick

With the new SAP Penalty Insights application, goalkeepers and goalkeeping coaches benefit from novel, data-driven and interactive insights that help them prepare for penalty kicks and penalty shootouts.

The solution was originally included in the SAP Sports One solution as a function for analyzing penalty kicks and was jointly developed by SAP and the German Football Association for the 2016 European Championship.

Penalty Insights offers teams completely new ways to prepare for upcoming games by analyzing game data.

Now the function has been developed into a standalone product and is available to a wider audience as a cloud-based application. Video clips of all penalty kicks stored in the database can be retrieved, and filters can be used to analyze the shooting preferences of penalty takers.

It is also possible to determine which players are most likely to take the next penalty kick.

Filters enable detailed player analysis and the detection of behavioral patterns.

In addition to the game situation or shooting characteristics such as a player's run-up, it is also possible to examine, for example, which goal area a shooter is aiming at.
