One third of all cyber attacks successful
On average, two to three attacks per month breach the company's security precautions.
Nevertheless, eight out of ten people responsible for IT security (81 percent) in Germany feel well equipped to defend against attacks.
These are the results of a survey of 2,000 IT security managers in 15 countries conducted by the consulting firm Accenture.
The survey asked for information on cyberattacks that had taken place, the effectiveness of security measures and the existing budget in companies with an annual turnover of more than one billion US dollars.
Almost nine out of ten respondents (87%) in Germany stated that IT security is considered important by the board of directors and is supported accordingly. 81 percent of respondents are convinced that their strategy for defending against cyber attacks is working.
In a global comparison, this figure is somewhat lower at 75%.
German companies are also confident that they can monitor cyber attacks (52 percent) and identify the cause (56 percent).
These results are also above the global average. Here, 38% of respondents stated that they were able to monitor attacks and 44% were able to identify them.
