SAP archiving
After a lengthy transition phase, the last KGS CAD content servers have now gone into operation at Trumpf. The globally active machine tool manufacturer with headquarters in Ditzingen is replacing its old OpenText system with the archive server and client software from KGS.
The reason for the switch to the new SAP archive: significantly lower license costs with improved functionality at the same time. The KGS servers are operated under Red Hat Linux.
As part of the project, software components for viewing, scanning, archiving and CAD data management were replaced. The changeover took place without any disruption to the daily work of the design engineers at Trumpf.
Subsequently, all CAD documents are currently being migrated from the old to the new archive and the previous servers will then be switched off. In total, the company uses the KGS servers at 15 locations worldwide.
