Virtualization goes cloud-native
Red Hat OpenShift 4.5 is available now. The solution includes OpenShift virtualization and helps enterprises overcome application barriers between a traditional and cloud-native infrastructure and extend control over distributed resources. With OpenShift virtualization, OpenShift now includes a new platform feature that enables enterprises to integrate VM-based workloads with Kubernetes.
This allows them to eliminate workflow and development silos that typically exist between traditional and cloud-native application environments. OpenShift virtualization was first introduced at Red Hat Summit 2020 as a technology preview and is now generally available and included in the OpenShift Container Platform at no additional cost.
Based on the open source KubeVirt project, OpenShift virtualization enables enterprises to develop, deploy, and manage applications comprised of VMs, containers, and serverless capabilities on a modern Kubernetes platform running on bare metal infrastructure.
