What do CIOs spend money on?

According to 69 percent of the CIOs and other digital decision-makers surveyed by Lünendonk, digital transformation is now being driven forward with higher priority and focus. The main drivers are new working models (digital workplace) and the establishment or expansion of digital business models and digital sales. However, sustainable programs to reduce costs and increase efficiency through the use of digital technologies are also on the agenda.
For example, the current Lünendonk study "The Market for IT Consulting and IT Service in Germany" shows that 82 percent of the IT decision-makers surveyed are increasing their budgets for optimizing business and IT processes. IT modernization is another key area - 75 percent are increasing their spending to modernize their technology stack. This also includes topics such as cloud migration, application modernization or the conversion to a flexible and interface-open digital platform (including microservices, open source, APIs).
Another key area of investment: 60 percent of the IT managers surveyed expect budgets for software development to increase in 2022. 70 percent of companies also want to increase their cloud budgets in 2022. This applies both to the development of cloud-native software products and to IT operations.
