All processes in one system

WHW Hillebrand is a corrosion protection company. In order to meet future challenges even better, the company began restructuring its ERP landscape.
To date, the specialist departments had their own IT programs that ran very well, but there were still some problems with the interaction of the individual systems, which meant that the IT landscape was not fit for the future.
An extensive software selection process showed that SAP ERP could cover all requirements and project objectives. Sycor was chosen as the implementation partner, with its SAP industry solution Surface for the special requirements of surface technology.
"It was important for us to introduce an ERP system with which we could clearly map all business processes. We were using up to 40 software programs and therefore had a lot of work to do to keep all systems up to date.
The smooth exchange of data was always a challenge. We also wanted a solution that was specifically tailored to the needs of surface finishers"
says WHW Managing Director Martin Kurpjoweit.
The aim was to replace the stand-alone software solutions and establish a fully integrated system.
"We wanted software that would allow us to take a step forward as a company. And it had to be easy to use"
explains Patrick Schnapp, Head of IT at WHW.
"Our solution maps all processes from procurement and customer-specific development to complex supplier processes and provides a clear view of the company at all times with flexibly customizable reports, integrated financial accounting and controlling functions"
Roland Masurat, Sycor project manager, explains the advantages of the industry solution.
"With the ERP system, WHW can coordinate and plan its logistics processes across all departmental boundaries and reliably control production processes."
The sales business processes were quickly implemented in the SAP standard. However, a separate SAP solution had to be created for the production and warehouse processes. Parallel to the introduction of the SAP solution, a new warehouse with a forklift control system and a new production facility were implemented at the subsidiary Hillebrand Chemicals.
As part of the project, an interface to the external EDI system (Seeburger BIS) was integrated.
