Hana backups on Red Hat Virtualization

Red Hat recently launched the Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Hana operating system and the Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) hypervisor, both of which are validated for use with Hana environments. SEP Sesam is certified for both Hana and Red Hat and can therefore be used directly for backing up Hana under Red Hat Virtualization.
The combination of Backup API for Red Hat Virtualization, Hana and SEP's hybrid backup solution is designed to provide more consistent data protection and compliant recovery of virtual machines (VMs) and Hana's in-memory database.
The integrated solution provides IT administrators using the SEP sesam management interface with a single platform to monitor the data protection status of their IT infrastructure.
"Our collaboration with Red Hat and SAP has created a great solution"
says Georg Moosreiner, CEO of SEP.
"We are able to offer a comprehensive back-up solution for the combination of Red Hat Virtualization and Hana that enables our customers to better meet their RPOs and RTOs."
Business-critical systems
"SEP is well known in the SAP ecosystem and is a Red Hat partner that helps support SAP environments based on Red Hat solutions"
says Rob Young, Manager Red Hat Virtualization at Red Hat.
"We are pleased to be working with SEP on a solution that combines Hana workloads on Red Hat Virtualization with the SEP Sesam backup solution for mission-critical systems and applications."
SEP Sesam is one of the few solutions on the market that offers comprehensive data protection for distributed and heterogeneous IT environments. SEP supports a variety of virtualization platforms and operating systems, including Microsoft, Linux, Mac, Unix, IBM, FreeBSD and Sun Solaris.
