Spearhead relies on hybrid cloud

In the global IBM study "Growing up Hybrid: Accelerating digital transformation", two thirds of leading companies stated that they are ahead of the competition thanks to a hybrid cloud.
They also want to use this IT strategy to implement future projects faster than before. This is because the hybrid cloud allows them to choose flexibly between the cloud and their own IT in order to drive forward new business objectives.
In addition, according to the IBM study, central IT issues such as scalability, security and compliance can be covered better and more easily using hybrid cloud strategies.
Companies that are leaders in their industries are three times more likely to use hybrid cloud infrastructures than their competitors in order to be economically successful and to plan future projects.
Furthermore, this spearhead uses the hybrid cloud five times more often for cognitive computing than the rest. Above all, they want to use intelligent IT systems to make more accurate predictions for their business development and increasingly develop learning machines.
These are the findings of the global IBM study "Growing up Hybrid: Accelerating digital transformation", conducted by the IBM Center for Applied Insights. It surveyed 500 companies from 13 countries and 23 industries that use a hybrid cloud - with a good quarter of the organizations surveyed being leaders in their industry.
The study also shows that more than a third of leading companies are already using the hybrid cloud for IoT (Internet of Things) applications. Nine out of ten respondents said that the hybrid cloud is critical to their strategy and success, and almost as many cited the hybrid approach as a key driver of their organization's digital transformation.
Almost two thirds described the hybrid cloud as an important helper in meeting compliance requirements. In addition, 80 percent of study participants say that the hybrid cloud reduces their shadow IT - i.e. the IT in the specialist departments that exists alongside the official IT and without the knowledge of those responsible for IT.
